Red Bull Will Protest if Mercedes use DAS
One of the biggest talking points of the pre-season testing was Mercedes' DAS system. Even though teams were unsure of its legality, they appeared to be mostly accepting of the innovative new idea.
A notable exception is Red Bull's team advisor Helmut Marko who made it very clear that they will protest if Mercedes choose to use the DAS system in Melbourne.
He did not mince words while describing his views on its legality and Red Bull's plans for it.
"From our perspective, the system does not comply with the rules. So we will protest when Mercedes uses the system in Melbourne. Our lawyers are checking whether the DAS system is legal.”
This along with the discontent surrounding Ferrari's engine investigation's confidential settlement has already created an uneasy atmosphere among the teams.
Experts of the sport are hoping that the FIA will be able to settle it all amicably and transparently.
“You Cannot Say Max is Better than Lewis”
As has been reported here many times, the expected rivalry between Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton has already divided the F1 world. Some favour the more exciting approach of the former while others prefer the calculated consistency of the latter.
It seems like Hamilton's former teammate and once his bitter rival Nico Rosberg still considers Hamilton to be a better driver than Verstappen.
He began by acknowledging that Max is very good and capable of fighting for the championship
"Max is the one guy in F1 who is on a similar level to Lewis."
"He has that very rare exceptional talent that Lewis has - a once-in-a-generation talent - and if he has the right car, there is no question he will be a contender for the championship this season."
Despite that he feels that Hamilton still has the edge.
"But you cannot say that Max is a better driver than Lewis. Lewis is going on to become the best of all time so you cannot say that at all.”
"Lewis is the absolute favourite to win the championship - but I have really high hopes that we can be in for a thrilling season. I am confident and optimistic that Red Bull and Ferrari can up their game and be on a level playing field with Mercedes."
