4. Temptations are NAVIGABLE
A. There is a PERSON we can LEAN ON
Heb 4.15, 1 Cor 10.13, 1 Jn 4.4
Heb 4:15 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points TEMPTED like as we are, YET WITHOUT SIN”
1 Cor. 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make A WAY TO ESCAPE, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO BEAR IT.”
1 Jn 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, than he that is in the world.”
B. There are PRINCIPLES we can LEARN FROM
2-12, 1 Jn 2.16, Gen 2.8-9, Gen 3.1-5, Ps 119.11, Jn 16.33, 1 Jn 4.4
1 Jn 2.16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
Gen 2:8 “The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow EVERY TREE that is PLEASANT TO THE SIGHT, and GOOD FOR FOOD”
Gen 3:1 “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, YEA, HATH GOD SAID, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was GOOD FOR FOOD, and that it was PLEASANT TO THE EYES, and a tree to be desired to MAKE ONE WISE, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."
Jesus had victory CONCENTRATING on God’s Word.
Eve fell flat QUESTIONING God’s Word.
“THY WORD have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.” Ps 119.11
Jn 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the WORLD ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.”
1 Jn 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, than he that is in the WORLD.”
