One should never underestimate the value of an outline because it will not only remind you of ideas that cross your mind even before you start your arduous task of writing. It also gives you an overview of what you can and cannot, or should and should not input in your paper, allowing you to insert or remove subtopics. This way, you'll save yourself a lot of time and painful decision-making of finally getting rid of texts that you'll deem unnecessary in the end, or discussing a topic a lot lesser than it deserved.
