In this video I discuss paranoia and the paranoid personality disorder (PPD) components of fear of being harmed, hurt, betrayed, disrespected, or abandoned and how they impact BPD. Paranoia has been found to be a prevalent aspect of BPD. PPD can co-occur in those with BPD. This video will examine this paranoia and PPD aspects, as it relates to BPD and how to manage it!
Do reality testing to challenge paranoia:
Step 1: Clearly define what you worried about.
Step 2: What evidence do you have that your worry/fear is ACCURATE? No woulds, coulds, should, allowed here.
Step 3: What evidence do you have that your worry/fear is INACCURATE (not true)?
Step 4: When you re-examine this fearful thought using reality testing, how do you feel and what do you think?
