I want to suggest something, which one eighth of the Qur’an talks about. O my God! What a suggestion! What is this suggestion? Don’t hide your bad points. Burn them in Hell. This is an amazing suggestion!
I suggest you talk heatedly with God about the most important bad outcome, which comes from your bad points, Hell. “Am I going to Hell?!” Say it. Continue! It gets to the point that God shouts, “I won’t take you to Hell. Don’t be afraid! Don’t talk about it! I won’t take you.” That’s enough! This is the result. You hear God saying, “I won’t take you!” But, you should be afraid. Say, “I’m afraid.”
All Moms hug their children when they say they’re afraid. All Dads hug their children when they say they’re afraid. It’s enough for you to be a little frightened! Be small. Don’t act like a big guy! Say, “Hell is hot. I’m afraid! They want to take me to Hell! With the bad points that I have, I will go to Hell!” Then see what God does! Talk to Him about Hell.
See how Imam Sajjad (‘a) talked, “You want to question me on the Day of Judgment? I’m afraid of Your questioning me!” He says he’s afraid of the questioning so much that God calls, “My dear, I won’t question you. It’s enough.” It gets to the point that the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (‘a), shows his fear of Hell in several phrases of the Kumayl Supplication! God tells him, “My dear Ali! It’s enough. I won’t let you go!” The Commander of the Faithful (‘a) replies, “I know You won’t let me go to Hell. ‘Far be it from You! You are more generous than to discard one whom you have nurtured.” [Kumayl Supplication] It would have been impolite if He didn’t say, “My dear. I tell you; I won’t hit you.” Then, Imam Ali (‘a) should have said, “I know You won’t let me go to Hell. So, why was I crying?! Look at how You hugged me very beautifully.”
Gentlemen! Please answer me loudly. Is a mother warm with a child who changes what he or she is saying? Imam Ali (‘a) starts to change what he was saying after he talks about Hell a little, and God welcomes him. He then prays in a way that he hadn’t prayed in the beginning of the supplication! In the beginning, he was saying, “Forgive me; I made mistakes.” At the end of the Kumayl Supplication, after saying these and God welcoming him, he says, “I hasten towards You among the frontrunners. Put me among Your servants who receive the most and are the closest to You in level and status.” God replies, “I said I won’t take you to Hell!” “No! Since You hugged me, put me among the best ones.” How strange! Enjoy it! Live with it!
Be small. Don’t act like a big guy. Talk to Him about Hell. It gets to the point that you hear God saying, “I won’t take you!” Be afraid. Say, “I’m afraid.” It’s enough for you to be a little afraid!
