Joker is good. It’s good good good. It’s so good I dressed like this, despite the fact you will take me about 30% less seriously for “dressing as Joker for Halloween.” And no, I am not going to sit here and tell you you have to like Joker. I don’t think that. But oooooooooooh boy is it good! It’s so good, right wing people are trying to claim it, and they’re so wrong about the film it doesn’t even deserve addressing. Let’s just say their brains are in recovery mode from taking in so many high-level ideas.
More importantly, I think a lot of criticism of the film - not all, but a lot… most of it - is ideological performance, whether the critics doing it know it or not. In fact, that’s what we’re going to talk about today.
