- In another heartbreaking situation of neglect and abuse, a tiny white Maltese found herself at a high kill south Texas animal shelter this week because her previous owner didn’t want to deal with the grapefruit sized tumors on her belly. The dog, barely weighs 17-pounds; no one can even guess how long Lesli, had been carrying the tumors around as they oozed pus and blood.
“Obviously she’s had this tumor for a very long time, dragging it around and in the interim getting pregnant,” stated Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC.
-Sadly the oncologist agreed with the initial diagnosis that Lesli has 6 months to a year at the most to live.
"We will try holistic medication to keep her immune system strong and healthy to give her the best quality of life for whatever time she has left. We are grateful to her amazing hospice foster for opening her home up and her heart to this very deserving girl."
She is happy now and feeling good for the moment.
