On this beautiful day, we flew into Kavala from the north. First some clouds prevented our view to the ground and to the airport. Getting closer to the airport, the clouds disappeared and we asked for a visual approach. ATC granted the clearance for that and asked us to fly over the airfield and enter a left hand downwind for runway 23L. In comparison to the standard instrumend approach this saved flighttime and fuel.

Runway 23L/05R is usually used for landing and takeoff. Runway 23R/05L is used as a taxiway. With a lenght of 300 meters or 9844 feet the runway is long enough for the takeoff and landing of almost every passenger airplane.
