I have been using the cheapest soldering station I could find (Baku 601D) for a couple of years now, and I finally got around to taking a look inside and doing a couple of easy upgrades. Despite some people's misgivings and annoyance at this cheap unit, it hasn't given me any real problems in the 2 years I've had it.
And it really was cheap - the cheapest temperature controlled iron with hot air tool that I could find on ebay.

This isn't the only way to do it.
It's probably not the best way to do it.
But it's how I do it.
