'28th February Shootings' Commemorated | Ghana | Colonial Era Atrocity | March 1973 Saturday, March 3rd 1973.

Footage of ceremonies at the Cenotaph, Osu Crossroads in Accra which commemmorated the 25th anniversary of the "28th February Shootings".

The cenotaph was built at the spot at which three Ghanaian (then Gold Coast) veterans were shot to death by British police while takig part in a grievance march by unemployed ex-servicemen to the palace headquarters of the British governor, Sir Gerald Creasy.

The three men were:

1. Sergeant Adjetey.
2. Corporal Attipoe.
3. Private Odartey Lamptey.

Service chiefs of the Ghana Armed Forces were present including Brigadier Charles Beausoliel, the commander of the Ghana Air Force and Colonel Robert Kotei, the Commander of the First Infantry Brigade of the Ghaa Army. Major Archie Casley-Hayford, the national chairman of the Ghana Legion, gave a brief address at the cenotaph outlining the background and events at the time of the shooting.
