Officials and residents in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have rejected a western document which made up rumors and attacked the counter-terrorism policies in the region, describing it as totally groundless and scrambled together with ulterior motives. The document, "Karakax List", alleges that over 300 people who have family members overseas were detained at vocational education and training centers for unjustified reasons in Karakax County, also known as Moyu County, in the Hotan Prefecture of Xinjiang. It was hyped by several Western media outlets, including CNN, BBC, Financial Times and the New York Times.
