Peshawar: Unidentified gunmen opened fire on Swabi anti-polio team, killing 2 lady health workers.
According to police, on the first day of the 5-day anti-polio campaign, Lady Health Workers were administering polio drops to children in Parmoli Mirali area of Swabi that unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on the polio team.

An unidentified motorcyclist was shot dead on the spot by Lady Health Worker Shakila, while a female health worker named Ghancha was rushed to a hospital in Peshawar after urgent medical help.
Later, another health worker, Ghuncha, was treated at the hospital.
The case for the shooting has been registered in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan, which includes murder, attempted murder and terrorism provisions.
According to police, two security personnel are being investigated as to why they did not respond.
On the other hand, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sanaullah Abbasi, taking notice of the attack on the polio team, suspended the respective SHOs and DSPs.
Talking to Geo News, Sanaullah Abbasi said that terrorists involved in the attack on the polio team would be arrested at all costs.
He said that the polio campaign would continue and ordered the polio teams to provide foolproof security in this regard.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood said that an anti-polio campaign was still going on in the district.
It is to be noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the worst affected by polio in 2019, where more than 90 cases have been reported.
