Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been campaigning for the ability to hold a referendum on Scotland’s independence so that the country can rejoin the EU following Brexit. But the SNP leader has been declined the vote as UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it is a once in a generation vote.
Ms Sturgeon’s trade plans with the EU have since been dismantled by Conservative MPs in Parliament.
James Sunderland MP asked in Commons: “Given the minister’s assessment will he confirm that Scotland’s trade with the rest of the UK is worth more than three times that of the EU.
“This is only one of the benefits on offer on being part of the UK, not least for British firms.”
Scotland’s Secretary Alister Jack MP replied: “The Scottish Government’s shown figures so that Scotland’s most important trading partner is the rest of the UK.
“That is worth more three times than trade with the other 27 EU countries combined.
