Crane lifts parts of Turkey crash plane from site

Crane lifts parts of Turkey crash plane from site (9 Feb 2020) Airline crews on Sunday continued dismantling a Turkish plane that had skidded off a runway into a ditch at Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen airport, killing three people.

The dismantling process began immediately after investigators inspected the wreckage on Saturday, following the crash on Wednesday.

The remaining 180 passengers and crew members on board were injured when the 11-year-old Pegasus Airlines plane came into land during strong winds and heavy rain and skidded off the runway and crashed, splitting into three pieces.

Security and emergency teams investigated the site during Istanbul first's snowfall of the year.

According to state-run Anadolu Agency, investigators on-site are officials from Boeing and United States Civil Aviation Authority.

Investigators were looking at many possible causes, including the plane's speed and the weather at the airport.

Pegasus Airlines officials on Thursday said that the plane's black boxes had been recovered and the data from them was being deciphered.
