WATCH: Trump withheld Ukraine aid for illegitimate reasons, Rep. Crow says | Trump impeachment trial For more on who’s who in the Trump impeachment inquiry, read: —

Rep. Jason Crow, a House manager, argued on Jan. 24 that President Donald Trump withheld U.S. aid from Ukraine in an attempt to pressure Ukraine to investigate his political rivals, not because he had larger concerns about U.S. foreign aid. Crow, D-Colo., provided evidence that he said showed Trump only released the aid after he was caught. “It doesn’t matter if extortion lasts two week or two months; it’s still extortion,” Crow said. The White House will give its defense after the House managers have been allowed 24 hours over the course of three days to present their case. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December on two articles -- abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and removed from office, or acquitted.
