President Moon Jae-in spoke at an SBS radio show this morning to wish the nation a happy Lunar New Year holiday.
During the session, he pointed out, the biggest disappointment last year was how the Hanoi summit ended without a deal.
"If there had been progress in Pyeongyang-Washington negotiations, we would have been able to advance the peace process on the Korean Peninsula as well as inter-Korean cooperation. I also regret being unable to give hope to the separated families who must miss their home and relatives even more on holidays."
Moon said the best gift to his mother, who passed away last October,... was accompanying her to see her separated sister during the inter-Korean reunion in 2004.
The President expressed regret over how he failed to keep the promise to take her to her hometown in the North.
This was the South Korean leader's third appearance on a radio show since he took office.
