Branding is by far the single most difficult task for you and your business. A good brand name and vision could take years to clarify, so how do you come up with one on your own quickly? I hate to say this, but there is no shortcut when developing a brand. It takes time, dedication, and flexibility to accomplish. A good start is to create a Brand Avatar that helps you form a better picture of what your Brand will stand for and how it should be perceived by the public at large.

After creating a Brand Avatar, it is important to develop a vision into the future to help guide your decisions today. If you plan on being a company that focuses on activism, then a good idea is to align yourself with other companies and individuals that do the same. Following a brand vision could act as a beacon in times where a decision may not be simple to make.

Once you have chosen your brand's vision, it is time to get to work. Remember, as your business grows it may also outgrow the brand itself and need to be rebranded. Not all rebranding will require a new name. Sometimes a new Avatar to know what your new goals really are. Maybe something so small as introducing a new mascot or slogan. Don't become attached to your brand as if losing it would be the worst thing that could happen. You'd be surprised how quickly you grow out of a brand identity early in the life cycle of a business.
