How to Blend and Connect Subharmonics - Quick Demonstration

Here is a short video demonstrating how I connect my subharmonic sound with my voice. No talking in the video. Just an exercise. I prefer these "low-production" videos from time to time because they get straight to the point. Read on if you need some explanation and purpose for the exercise.

Using the "Ya" sound helps establish a cleaner transition from full to subharmonic. From there, you sing a scale down. I start off with subharmonics at G2 (which is a G3 add sub).

Once you get that part down, use octave displacements where you move from full voice to subharmonic. Example at 0:15 shows me singing a G2 then a subharmonic G2 (which is really a G3 add sub). Proceed down until you are out of range and then work on bright and dark subharmonic sounds.

At 0:42, sing full voice G2-G3 on a major scale and on the way down, apply subharmonics.

Use this a half step lower or higher to help battle those transition points.

Purpose: increase flexibility and quality of subharmonic sound as well as smooth out transitions.

Thanks!
