Donkeys  in Meru dressed as flies cause death of more than 10 beasts of burden

Residents of Mumui, Lairang’i and Rei in Meru county have resorted to dressing their donkeys in trousers to ward off mysterious flies whose bites are causing wounds and death.
Locals are afraid that the flies which infested the area two weeks ago will affect cows and goats that are the main source of livelihood in the area.
Mumui location Chief Silas Kinyua said that about 10 donkeys have died as a result of bites from the mysterious flies in the last two weeks.
