In a resort town where tourists and bears collide, it’s up to the Bear Whisperer to keep the peace.
On this episode, the biggest of the black bears are rumbling into town. These big bears are non-stop eating machines who command the best habitats, the best feeding areas, and the respect of lesser bears, but even they must respect the one man in town who stands up to them: the Bear Whisperer, Steve Searles. And Steve has his hands full: thousands of tourists are flooding the village, and Steve has to keep both bears and people living together in peace. It’s not easy, because even when a big bear is behaving harmlessly, its sheer size is enough to scare anyone who sees it.
These are some of Steve’s favorite bears of the season. Most are old enough to have learned the lessons Steve has taught them over the years. But every so often, a bear stands up to Steve or battles him for dominance, and when that happens, one wrong move can put Steve’s life in danger. On his daily patrols, Steve deals with a bear who has to be evicted from an inappropriate sleeping spot, another bear hiding in a culvert near a busy Arts Festival, and a badly wounded bear whose injuries force Steve to make a heart-wrenching decision. Steve also has a surprise encounter with one of his long-time favorite bears, and faces his most dangerous predicament when he upsets a massive bear sleeping under a house.
