On Friday, a larger number of concrete barricades and barbed wire fences were put up and an extra presence of army troops was seen on the streets of Beirut.
Banks have also stepped up their security and some shops were installing fortified windows and doors after protestors smashed them on Wednesday night.
Clashes erupted and groups of young men rampaged through streets near Parliament as well as the commercial district after a new government was announced on Tuesday.
The once strikingly peaceful protests, praised around the world, recently turned violent as anger and frustration mounted.
Over 500 people were injured last weekend in confrontations in Beirut that saw security forces fire rubber bullets to disperse protesters.
