I also purchased a couple of outfits, shoes and fake Blythe stands to see if they are worth the cost.
Where did I purchase these fake dolls:
Aliexpress store: The Show!
Where can I purchase official Blythe dolls:
Why point out they are fakes so much? Well:
One toy/doll collector I enjoy viewing (NexJen) was introduced to how defensive the official BJD community can be when she reviewed a fake BJD on her channel and was overrun with negative comments. She decided to take the video down. Always do your research first and understand that fake dolls can hurt a BJD artists craft and income. If you are reviewing a fake doll - label it as such so their is no deception as to what you are showing.
I've seen a few other doll collectors be pointed to a rumour about these Blythe dolls being Frackensteins of real parts. This may have been true for a few dolls way back with the original factory but these dolls are pure copies. They should not be refered to as real Blythe dolls. This rumour is addressed in several other forums/videos from Blythe doll collectors.
If, however, you prefer to believe the rumour, think of it this way. I can steal all the parts used to make a Sony TV and put it together myself (slapping the Sony logo on the front screen). This doesn't make it a Sony TV however - it was not put together in the official factory, painted by their experienced craftsman and it was not quality control checked by their staff. It is merely a "TV with Sony parts" not a real "Sony TV" (does that make sense).
I hope you enjoy this video and that is it informative of the different Blythe copy dolls available from Aliexpress. If you are an official BJD collector, please remember to gently educate rather than scare away potential collectors to the craft. Everyone has to start somewhere and tho it is an elitest doll collecting area I always love seeing new people in the craft :).
I am an adult doll collector.
Thanks from this old doll collector,
Mum Lisa :)
