Squeaky Doors! 1994 OTIS Lexan Traction Elevators - 85th Ave. - GO, BR

Squeaky Doors! 1994 OTIS Lexan Traction Elevators - 85th Ave. - GO, BR These are the OTIS Lexan Traction elevators at another dead gallery in the same avenue where I filmed that other Lexan. This is the last rendition of the "Modelinho" in Brazil. The panel has a frame around it, the "OTIS" nameplate is a bit more modern, it has 7-segment indicators, red lights for the buttons, door open and alarm have different icons and are colored (in the same scheme as the older Series 1 in the US), larger call stations, no flashing buttons (controller is different from older Lexan)... It seems to be an "updated" last version of the Lexan.
The car you see in the video has a very squeaky door, and could use some oil. The left car was out of service, as indicated by the " – " in the external indicator. OTIS doesn't seem to be doing a great job on these. But, on the bright side, they are quite fast, just not very efficient due to the slow leveling, still, not that bad! They were probably even better in their early years, Lexans were high quality elevators made with efficiency, durability and reliability in mind. Maintenance is not making them live up to that standard anymore, though, which is sad, considering that these are way better than current elevators. On the indicator, "S" (short for Subssolo/Basement) appears as a 5 and "P" (for Portaria/Entrance) is used when it can perfectly show "T" (for Térreo/Ground), installers probably didn't know about it. The cab conditions are very good - no scratches, VERY clean interior and no papers or stickers anywhere. I also really like the circular lights on the ceiling, which are a nice touch! They are similar to the old (and now modernized) elevators that DieselDucy filmed at Cathedral of Learning in Pennsylvania. Interestingly, there aren't any stickers from OTIS maintenance, not even the monthly inspection marker, which is mandatory according to municipal law.
Overall some really nice and interesting elevators, but OTIS isn't giving them the service they deserve. And if you ask me why they just didn't go with a Series 1 or Europa 2000... I don't know if those ever made it to Brazil. Probably yes, but they preferred a cheaper option.
