Ryan Callinan's Incredible Wipeout Recovery at Pipeline

Ryan Callinan's Incredible Wipeout Recovery at Pipeline Ryan Callinan performed an incredible wipeout recovery at Pipeline during his Round of 32 heat of the 2019 Billabong Pipe Masters in Hawaii.

When everyone thought the Australian had fallen off his board, Callinan exited the barrel, sitting on the surfboard, before regaining an upright position and kicking out of the wave.

The unorthodox acrobatic recovery was worth 1.70 points.

Why? According to the rules, if the surfer's feet become disconnected from the board, forcing him or her into a prone position before popping back up to his/her feet, the judges deem it an incomplete maneuver.

So, even if the athlete finishes the ride, it will never technically be considered a completed wave.

Yes, it's a clumsy spin. But Ryan Callinan managed to impress everyone. Is it a wipeout or a brand new maneuver?
