Board and Train HYBRID-Bo Update- Come Command- How to Teach It. Bo is learning his recall skills. This is how he is being taught to come when called (sped up version for tutorial reasons. Normally I would do many many repetitions before moving to the next level of moving the cots further away and adding the long line). Starting with the dog cots (available on Chewy) very close together I just call him back and forth between them with the leash on for guidance and insurance. After many repetitions we will use a long line and move the cots further apart. Using his food/daily kibble and a clicker we practice many repetitions to pattern the behavior of coming to me when called.
I like to use the cots initially to give him a place to target and land to help teach him to come straight to me.
When you first start teaching this make sure your cots are close together no more than a standard leash length. Do 30 or more repetitions and gradually move them further away from each other and repeat the process. Once you have a solid recall using this technique you can move to having your dog recall to you from the cot to you (not by a cot). Then you can do recalls from a sit or a down not on a cot. Then you can just release your dog to sniff around and call them back to you. Repeat that process over and over to pattern your dog to come to you even if distracted. Each time you change up the scenario it’s different for your dog and distracting. So be sure to get closer to your dog and build the distance back up.
Training your dog on a remote collar can dramatically increase the reliability of your dogs recall and other commands! #recall #comecommand #dogtrainingisfun #dogtraining #dogtrainingadvice #siberianhusky #huskypuppy #husky #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingvideo #dogtraining101 #dogtrainingpaysoff #dogs #dogtrainingworks #obediencetraining #foundationwork #boardandtrain #positivereinforcement #balancedtraining #offleash #professional #dogwalker #dogtrainer #petsitter #bestofgwinnett #lovegwinnett #UNLEASHTHEHAPPY
