A nine-year-old cystic fibrosis sufferer has designed Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s Christmas card. The Labour leader vowed to take on big drug companies after meeting Luis Walker who had initially been denied life-saving treatment. Little Luis later won his fight with NHS drugs chiefs for access to the life-saving drug Orkambi. Mr Corbyn said he was “honoured” that the boy had created the card, adding: “Nobody should be deprived of the medicine they need.” Luis’s hand-drawn design features a decorated Christmas tree with presents underneath as well as a snowman, an angel and Santa on a sleigh. It includes a personal message: “My Christmas wish is for everyone all over the world to get the medicine to make them feel better.” The Mirror revealed how the youngster wrote to Mr Corbyn earlier this year detailing his fight to access the life-changing drug. The Labour leader has attacked the pharmaceutical industry and drug companies for putting “profits for shareholders before people’s lives”, in the case of Luis and others suffering from illnesses such as cystic fibrosis, hepatitis C and breast cancer. He wrote to Boris Johnson and pharmaceutical giant Vertex after meeting Luis calling on them to “right this wrong”. In October NHS England announced a deal had been reached with Vertex making the drug available to patients. Mr Corbyn said: “Luis won an important fight for access to the medicine he needs. While we celebrate this, we must recognise that many people continue to suffer from other illnesses and aren’t able to access vital medicines.” Previous Christmas Cards from the Labour leader have included a photo of his cat El Gato Corbyn unveils Christmas card designed by 9-year-old cystic fibrosis sufferer Labour Party,NHS,Father Christmas,Boris Johnson,Jeremy Corbyn,Breast cancer,Christmas cards,Politics,Cystic fibrosis,Christmas trees,Christmas party
