A lot of us were either born in the west or born in their home country and came to the west but most of our parents decided to come to the west in search of a better life. Especially for their children, due to what hardships they’ve been through in their homeland. As the child begins to grow up in completely foreign lands they experience a different life compared to the one he or she’s parents went through. Things either turn out amazing, problematic or tragic. This piece reflects upon the fact that a large amount of us are going down a path that we should never walk and we are losing ourselves in the process. We let people have control over our emotions and our actions and we go down this path that could destroy our lives and the lives of our families entirely. We need to help each other out, especially our youth and we need to come together as one to accomplish this. Too many of our youth are dying young due to the senseless acts of violence in our communities. May Allah have mercy on the souls who have perished and grant patience to the families and friends who have lost their beloved. Ameen. Salam.
