California delcared a stated of emrgency

Gov. Gavin Newsom of California declared a state of emergency, saying the high winds that have been fueling the blazes in the state were “unprecedented” and pleading with people in evacuation zones to flee.

Over 1 million people could lose power. The utility has been turning off power to avoid fires sparked by electric lines which could lead to catastrophic wildfires.
