Up-Down Reader: A Free Software for Efficiently Processing von Frey Thresholds

UP-DOWN READER:
In both patients and rodent pain models, altered mechanosensation is a hallmark of most pathological pain conditions. Stimulus-evoked sensitivity in the affected dermal region can be assessed using von Frey filaments (fibers of varying diameters). The Up-Down Reader software provides a standardized way of recording and interpreting response patterns to the filaments. Response thresholds are automatically calculated from hand-written data sheets based on the up-down testing paradigm. Data analysis supports both mice and rats for plantar or visceral stimuli.
