Jumbo Charge 4x4 Challenge in Mt Elgon: Participants and organisers speak It is all systems go ahead of this year’s Jumbo Charge 4x4 Challenge in Cheptais Mt Elgon, Bungoma County.
The event is aimed at conserving water catchment areas through tree planting exercise, Eco-generation, and rehabilitation of degraded areas and environmental awareness.
Some of the activities during the two-day event that kicks off tomorrow, Saturday include; tree planting, camping, nature adventure, and hiking.
It will kick off at Kipsisi Kenya Forest Service camp where a free medical camp will be conducted and tree planting. On Sunday, the teams will drive down to Chebwek for the climax of the challenge.
Aunty Chesire, from Uasin Gishu who is one of the drivers, urged the government to recognize the sport just like any other.
Mr. Hudson Kasiya another driver from Uasin Gishu said that apart from competing, they are also encouraging locals to plant more trees.
Some of the modified vehicles taking part in the annual event include; Range Rover v8 3.9 old model, Toyota Land cruiser fj40, Land Rovers and Suzuki.
