I wrote some new music and adapted the words of the old hymn "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" to fit the melody. Lyrics:
The King of love my Shepherd is,
With goodness He my soul restores,
I nothing lack if I am his,
And he is mine forevermore.
Where streams of living water flow,
My ransomed soul he leads with care,
And where the verdant pastures grow,
With food celestial feedeth there.
With foolishness and pride,
How often did I go astray,
But yet in all his love,
My Savior sought me all the way.
And on his shoulder he gently laid me,
And to his home with rejoicing brought me.
In death’s dark vale, I fear no ill,
O dearest Lord, with Thee beside,
Thy rod and staff, my comfort still,
Thy cross before to be my guide.
You spread a table in my sight,
Your mercy great bestoweth now,
And O what transport of delight,
From thy pure chalice floweth out.
And so throughout the length
Of all of my appointed days,
Your goodness never fails,
Your kindness ever with me stays.
O King of love may I sing forth your praise,
Within your house, my Good Shepherd always.
O King of love may I sing forth your praise,
Within your house, my Good Shepherd always.
