There is a very significant difference between two specific ways aphasia and apraxia therapy are being performed today. The first way deals with the therapist providing the therapy with minimal family or spouse participation. The second way is to have the family or spouse participate in each session and learn how to provide the therapy from the therapist, and actually take turns with actual procedures.
Since the number of visits and length of care for most therapy visits have a limit, it would be sensible to prepare the care partner by teaching methods and techniques they can use at home. The more stimulation provided, esp. in normal, everyday speaking contexts, the faster-talking typically improves. The home environment provides innumerable opportunities for speaking.
