Michael Schumacher’s pal reveals ‘F1 ace wanted to disappear before ski crash’

Michael Schumacher’s pal reveals ‘F1 ace wanted to disappear before ski crash’ The video will start in 8 Cancel Michael Schumacher has not been seen for five years following his horrific ski crash, and his family have always insisted on keeping his health hidden. Schumacher was left in a medically induced coma after banging his head on a rock in the French Alps. He was skiing with his son Mick when he fell, and despite wearing a helmet he suffered a “traumatic head injury”. Doctors kept him a coma for months after the crash in December 2013. The seven-time F1 champion was then released to receive medical care at the family’s home near Lake Geneva, Switzerland. His family have always insisted his health is not a public matter – and his manager previously claimed it was the champ's dream to "disappear". Schumacher’s wellbeing is back in the spotlight after it emerged he is undergoing secretive treatment in Paris. It is reported the F1 champ was wheeled into hospital hidden under a blue sheet to receive a revolutionary new stem cell therapy. And his management continue to remain silent on the reports as they refuse to release any information about his health. Dribs and drabs of information have surfaced from Schumacher’s friends, but mystery still surrounds the legend’s condition. His manager Sabine Kehm made clear why they have declined to release information back in March 2016. She said: “In general, the media have never reported on Michael and Corinna's private life. “When he was in Switzerland, for example, it was clear he was a private individual. "Once in a long discussion Michael said to me: 'You don't need to call me for the next year, I'm disappearing’.” She added: “I think it was his secret dream to be able to do that some day. "That's why now I still want to protect his wishes in that I don't let anything get out." Schumacher’s family re-emerged into the spotlight as his son Mick, now 20, follows in his dad’s footsteps. Mick is racing the F2 for the Prema team, graduating to the step beneath after F1 after winning the European F3 title. Schumacher is now reportedly in the care of Professor Philippe Menasche, a cardiac surgeon specialising in stem cell research. The stricken racer has made two visits Paris from his home in Switzerland over the summer, it is claimed. Le Parisien reported he has been set to receive cells to obtain an anti-inflammatory effect throughout his system. Professor Menasche is best known for performing the world’s first embryonic cell transplant on a patient with heart failure in 2014. Schumacher reportedly arrived in an ambulance at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital on Monday. He arrived with a security detail of 10 people in an ambulance registered to Geneva. Pictures show the blue and yellow ambulance parked outside the hospital. He was then wheeled into the Continuous Monitoring Unit of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department. Schumacher remains the most successful driver in the history of F1, winning two titles with Benetton and five with Ferrari. H
