READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF NO-SHOW: So in English if you call someone a no-show it means that they were supposed to meet with you or they were supposed to come to a certain place to meet you and they didn't show up. They didn't arrive. They didn't come. Today Jen had an order for some flowers, someone called and ordered a lot of flowers from our flower farm and the person said they were going to be here at 1:00 but they didn't come at 1:00 and it is almost 6:00 and they are still not here. So we would call that person a no-show. We were expecting them to show up. We were expecting them to come and pick up their flower order, but we haven't seen him yet so we're pretty sure that he is a no-show which is too bad because we have a whole bunch of flowers that this person wanted and they didn't come to get them. So, anyways, if someone doesn't show up when they are supposed to we call them a no-show. So if you go on a date and someone is a no-show, like if you are going to meet someone for a romantic evening, for a date, we would say that you have been stood up. So kind of, the person who doesn't show up is called a no-show, but the person who is waiting for that person we would say that they are stood up, or that they have been stood up. So if you don't show up you are a no-show. If you are the person sitting there waiting and the person doesn't show up you have been stood up.
