Speaker Bio: I am currently the Lead Biologist for Wildlife Preservation Canada's Native Pollinator Initiative and am responsible for managing pollinator recovery programs across Canada. I have extensive experience in species-at-risk conservation, ranging from on-the-ground fieldwork to higher-level project development, and have been working with species-at-risk for nearly a decade in Canada and overseas, which has included recovery projects with endangered lemurs in Madagascar and the critically endangered spiny-tailed iguana in Honduras. I began working with pollinators in 2013 and have since gained extensive experience in the fields of pollinator taxonomy and systematics, ecology, and conservation through both work experience and an MSc degree that focused on gaining a better understanding of the composition and distribution of an important group of native bees (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae) across North America. This experience has helped me to develop national monitoring programs for bumble bee species-at-risk, and to implement and coordinate provincial recovery programs for various pollinator species-at-risk.
