If you told us 10 years ago that the Toyota Camry would be the sportiest midsize sedan on the market, we’d assume you were crazy. Yet, here we are, and the V6-powered Camry, with over 300 horsepower, stands next to the Nissan Maxima as the only 6-cylinder sedans you can find outside of the luxury segments. The 8-speed automatic transmission keep us, too. Over a week of testing, Chris Wardlaw observed that the transmission never missed a shift.

The Camry has gotten a bit more cramped behind the front seats—consider this Toyota’s effort to keep it in a separate class than the full-size Avalon. Luckily, the Camry boasts plenty of storage across a variety of nooks and crannies. And during a Los Angeles heat wave, the Camry’s air conditioning was able to keep Chris’s test car nice and cool.

Apple CarPlay has arrived in the 2019 Camry, although Android Auto is still not available. At least CarPlay runs Google Maps because Toyota’s proprietary navigation system left Chris unimpressed. The Harman Kardon sound system wasn’t available in Chris’s test car, but the 9-speaker JBL system sounded plenty good.

Pricing on the 2019 Camry starts at just over $24,000 for a 4-cylinder L trim, and it rises to $34,850 for an XSE V6 trim before options. For more information on the 2019 Toyota Camry, read Chris’s full review on CarGurus:
