Learn English Basic Phrases part 21 to 40

Learn English Basic Phrases part 21 to 40 Learn English Basic Phrases part 21 to 40 is the second video in a series to help English language learners practise their listening and speaking skills.

Listen to a native speaker reading aloud basic English phrases, as you read the sentence. Listen again, then speak out aloud the sentence to practise your English speaking skills. Repeat again and again to become fluent and confident in spoken English.

Remember the key to getting better at English quickly is speaking and listening regularly.

These sentences are not difficult, so you should be able to speak them easily.

Repeating simple sentences regularly will train your brain to use English without needing to think about grammar and without needing to think about translating word for word in your head.

Most language learners study a lot of grammar or try to learn long lists of vocabulary.

Perhaps you can read English very well or even write it very well,
but you have problems when it comes to listening to spoken English or you struggle to find the right words to make even basic sentences.

You put in the hours of study but you simply don’t feel like you’re getting any better at learning English.

Does this sound familiar to you?

I understand. I know what it is like to be a language learner.

Understanding grammar is important, and learning vocabulary and long lists of words is important, but to get better at speaking and listening, well you have to speak and listen.

Reading books about listening and speaking doesn’t help you practise these skills.

The fact is to get better you need to listen to English and you need to speak English.

To help you improve your listening and speaking skills,
I have put together this series of basic sentences and phrases

The language is fairly easy and it is hopefully useful for you

Listen to the sentences
Listen to the pronunciation,
Listen to the rhythm and intonation of a native speaker

and then copy what you hear
speak out the sentence aloud and repeat what you’ve heard.
Do this again and again and you will sound more naturally like a native speaker. You will become more confident speaking English.

To sound more natural when speaking English, you need to be able to speak without translating sentences in your head.

It will help you if you practise the sentences and phrases in this series of videos. You will be able to speak English without thinking about grammar, without thinking about translating sentences word for word, and you will find it easier to listen to native English speakers and you will communicate more fluently in English.

Remember, you are practising your listening AND speaking skills.

It is important to speak out aloud, so that you get practice using the English language.

If there is anything you do not understand, rewind and listen to the recording again.

Ok. Are you ready? Here are the 20 sentences spoken in the video....

Tom is out back.
Tom will be here when you get back.
When are you going to be back?
When did you come back from London?
When did you get back from London?
Why did Tom come back?
I have been to India.
Can Tom do this?
Can you do that?
I can do it.
I can do this.
I can not.
We can do that.
We do what we can.
You can do it.
Can I come in?
Can we come?
Can you come?
Come here.
Come on!
