Queen's passion for imitating world leaders revealed – 'She has Royal Family in stitches'

Queen's passion for imitating world leaders revealed – 'She has Royal Family in stitches' The Queen has had the opportunity to meet hundreds of world leaders in her 66 years on the throne. During this time the monarch is reported to have developed the ability to "imitate" some of the politicians she has hosted. author Phil Dampier claimed the Queen has been using her penchant for mimicry to entertain the Family during Christmas gatherings.  Speaking to Yahoo's The Box, Mr Dampier said: "She does charades at Christmas, she loves doing that. "She stands up, she imitates leaders she has met like Boris Yeltsin or Bill Clinton. Apparently, she is brilliant at them."  commentator Victoria Arbiter backed the claim as she said the Queen has long been a passionate actress – a love she developed while she was evacuated to Windsor during World War II with her younger sister Princess Margaret. Ms Arbiter said: "She was quite an actress in her early years. When they were sequestered at Windsor Castle during the war, she and Princess Margaret used to put on pantomimes.  Prince Philip made shocking admission on his wedding day to the Queen: ‘Brave or foolish?’  "Prince Philip went to see their version of Aladdin when he was back from leave from the Navy. "She loves musicals, she loves acting – Oklahoma is one of her favourite musicals – and she is a very good mimic. She has them in stitches at Christmas."  expert Ingrid Seward had previously claimed the monarch had developed a keen ear to copy accents and had specialised in speaking with a Liverpudlian accent. Ms Seward said: "I think the Queen is the comedian. She's a wonderful mimic. "She can do Liverpool. She does Liverpool very, very well. She can do Irish and she can do a really, really good American too."  Ms Seward also suggested the Queen's passion for comedy has played an important part in her marriage to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The royal author added: "I think the secret is that they laugh together." During his long life, the Duke has come to be known for his witty one-liners and jokes however his reputation for candid speaking has often led to controversy.  When his cousin Patricia Mountbatten remarked on the Queen’s flawless complexion, the Prince reportedly joked: “Yes, and she’s like that all over!” But the monarch too has had her fair share of fun over the years and famously pranked her husband when he returned from a long trip in 1957.   Trending  Knowing that he had grown a beard on his travels, the Queen had arranged for everyone in the royal entourage - herself included - to put on fake whiskers just before the Duke walked in. According to a 27 report by the Daily Mirror, the couple let their sense of humour truly shine when they came up with a brilliant and hilarious idea for their costumes at a fancy dress party.  correspondent James Whitaker wrote: “In the year of their wedding, the Queen and Philip attended a fancy-dress ball. “She dressed as a maid, he as a waiter.”
